The Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) on August 19, 2026, issued a notification regarding the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution from Stone Crushing Units in the National Capital Region.
The Commission has issued Directions for prevention and control of air pollution from stone crushing units in the NCR. The Direction requires DPCC/SPCBs to incorporate the CPCB Environmental Guidelines for Stone Crushing Units, 2023 as conditions in the Consent to Operate (CTO) of all stone crushing units and modify existing CTOs wherever required. It further mandates continuous remote monitoring through registration on SPCB/DPCC web portals, video surveillance with remote connectivity, and installation of PM2.5 and PM10 sensors linked to a cloud-based live dashboard. Stone crushing units are also required to maintain adequate wheel-washing facilities for vehicles entering or leaving their premises.
The Directions will come into force from November 1, 2026, with non-compliance attracting action under the CAQM Act, 2021.
