Industry Specific Compliance The Ministry of Communications (MoC) on August 21, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Mandatory Biometric Identification for Telecom Services

The following has been stated namely: -

• Wireless access services and internet telephony services through mobile user terminals is covered.

• Providers must ensure verifiable biometric-based identification of users receiving these services.

• The requirement is notified under Section 3(7) of the Telecommunications Act, 2023, and must comply with the Telecommunications (User Identification) Rules, 2026.
