The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region (CAQM) on August 13, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Extension of relaxation in the Standard List of Approved Fuels.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Industries, hotels, restaurants and other enterprises in NCR were allowed to use alternate fuels instead of natural gas due to global energy-supply disruptions.
• High-Speed Diesel (HSD), biomass and RDF pellets were allowed. Where these were unavailable, coal/kerosene could also be used temporarily.
• The relaxation, initially granted in March 2026, was extended up to August 13, 2026.
• The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas informed the Commission on August 13, 2026 that disruptions in natural-gas supplies, caused by geopolitical developments in the Middle East, are still continuing.
• The Commission has now extended the relaxation up to September 13, 2026, or until normal gas supply is restored/further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.
